Great stay in a beautiful place!

Very friendly welcome from Paula. Comfortable room. Good in-room amenities. Little details that give something extra, such as a bowl of chocolates at the bottom of the stairs and a minibar in the hallway with some drinks. Very extensive and well served breakfast. Space to place our bikes. Within walking distance of Dunster Castle and town centre, and well placed for walks.

Cosy, comfy, friendly!

You could tell as soon as you walked up the path, through the lovely flowery garden, that it was going to be a great place to stay. And it was all so welcoming, with a great breakfast and lovely touches like a range of locally produced teas and ‘proper’ biscuits in the room – and all in such a historic location, so close to Dunster castle

A fautless stay!

My wife and I had another absolutely faultless weekend break staying at the Mill Stream Cottage. Paula’s welcoming hospitality and attention to detail were superb. As my wife is the manager of four, luxury self catering properties we have very high standards and fully appreciate the hard work it takes. We stayed in Room 2 (the super king room) which has been refurbished since our last visit in May ‘22.
We 100% recommend staying here.
Thanks very much Paula, we’ll be back!

A lovely cottage within walking distance of the Castle with many places to eat close by. Not the biggest room but very clean, cosy and well equipped with quality bed linen and a very comfortable mattress. Breakfast was 1st class and Paula an excellent host. Excellent Booked again!

Excellent little B & B , alway a bit dubious about booking B& B , as they can be very hit and miss , this ones definitely a hit, so much so I’ve booked again for work, next year!! , very warm welcome, great host, very clean, excellent breakfast freshly cooked, nice big lounge to sit in, parking is near by, but not on site, so may be a bit hit and miss , I dropped on both nights.

A very warm welcome awaits you!

Paula could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Served with homemade cake and tea on arrival. I also needed an early breakfast one morning which was no problem.
The cottage is an old building kept in very good condition. Exposed beams and very thick walls! The garden was very pretty with lots of flowers and a bench for sitting enjoying the view. Free Wi-Fi available if needed.
My room was very comfortable with all expected amenities- kettle, tea/coffee/various other hot drinks, all fixtures and fittings of high quality and work well. Proper home from home. I slept better here than I usually do when away from home.
Communal fridge on landing with complimentary fruit juices and fresh milk for drinks.
Breakfast was brilliant with lots of choice to suit everyone.
Lounges downstairs with very comfortable sofas for guests with books and local travel information.
Car park round the corner which served me well.
I hope to stay here again.

A world away from the hustle and bustle!

Millstream Cottage is a delight, situated in the medieval village of Dunster, and possesses a feel all of its own – of possibly the early 1800s – although it does date back several centuries earlier, to Norman times.

The cottage itself is more than 500 years old and has been renovated beautifully to provide a supremely comfortable, cosseting and warm environment.

This was my third stay – after a four year break – and this particular ‘home from home’ remains my favourite, from the welcoming home-made cake with a pot of tea on arrival, to my choice of an immaculately presented fresh fruit salad and a splendid cooked breakfast to follow.

The bedrooms are tastefully furnished and well appointed, with a very generous variety of biscuits and at least five choices of tea – including Earl Grey, Red Bush and Camomile. And, if you should run out of milk for your hot chocolate or coffee, there’s a little refrigerator on the landing containing a jug of ‘Jersey’ for a top-up!

Paula has thought of everything..

Perfect B&B

We stayed here for two nights. The whole house was beautiful, the interior decoration beautifully done and spotlessly clean. The residents lounge was very comfortable. We stayed in room 2 with the super king bed. It was so lovely, a window seat overlooked the garden and woods beyond, it was very peaceful. Paula has thought of every detail from the welcome cup of tea and cake to the products in the bathroom and welcome tea tray with huge quantity of biscuits! Breakfast was lovely too. Parking not the easiest in the whole of Dunster but a short walk away was fine, a nice walk in very pretty surroundings. Tip: Room 2 for a super king bed and power shower to really wake you up!

We had a great 3 day break enjoying walks and sights nearby fortified by a splendid breakfast.

Beautiful characterful cottage

Delightful historic cottage with a beautiful front garden, tastefully modernised inside with every comfort. Was welcomed with a pot of tea and delicious cake. My single room was small but perfectly adequate. Breakfast huge! aula was a very friendly and attentive host.

Third visit to Millstream Cottage

Thank you again Paula. Another lovely stay at our favourite B&B. As ever spotless with such comfortable rooms & lounge and with such care taken with Covid in mind. And of course those fantastic breakfasts! Will be back again. Jerry, Karol and Mickie.

Quintessential English BnB

We just had a great stay at Millstream, our host were the perfect balance of being attentive but not in your face and the breakfast was superb. Rooms are well appointed, spotlessly clean and Room 4 stayed nice and cool despite the very hot weather, no need for a fan. I’d expect other rooms to be the same given the thick historic walls. Really enjoyed our time there, you’d be hard pressed to find a better BnB anywhere, never mind in Dunster. COVID protocols were absolutely up to scratch to boot.

Beautiful B&B

Paula was so welcoming on our recent stay at Millstream Cottage. We’d had a rubbish M5-South journey down so a delicious slice of chocolate cake was brought to the beautiful guest lounge to tide us over until our dinner! The room was beautiful, and spotlessly clean. Breakfast menu is exactly what you’d expect and the food from Exmoor is a treat to have each morning. We will definitely return – highly recommended.

Great first break out of lockdown

We stayed for three nights as a couple along with my wife’s sister. Really enjoyable stay. Paula is a fabulous host and made us feel very safe. It’s a lovely chocolate box cottage on the edge of Dunster and near open countryside. On arrival we were greeted with tea and large slices of home made chocolate cake! The rooms are very well appointed and have everything you could want for a truly special stay. The beds are very comfortable with great quality linen. Breakfast is lovely with lots of choice, try the smoked haddock and poached egg and the homemade fruit compote is lovely. Dunster is a beautiful place and we recommend a visit to the castle and gardens. One tip, book a table, well in advance,if you want to eat out in Dunster in the evening.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location

My boyfriend and I stayed for a long weekend and will definitely be returning. Beautiful cottage with friendly, welcoming host. Lovely bedroom and lots of options for breakfast. The location is stunning, with just a short walk to pubs, restaurants and amazing views . Overall a lovely, peaceful break!

Beautiful cottage in Dunster

Millstream Cottage is beautiful and quaint but with modern touches that make for a very comfortable stay in the centre of Dunster. The host were very welcoming with tea and homemade cake ready on our arrival. Our rooms were very clean, comfortable with high quality furnishings and attention to detail to include items such as tea, coffee and biscuits with fresh milk, complimentary bottled water and even a torch! Great care was taken to ensure guests felt confident that COVID regulations were being adhered to. The breakfasts were excellent with a great deal of choice including vegetarian options. The quality of the ingredients was very good and the choice of times to arrive for breakfast gave us some flexibility. Paula is  prepared a comprehensive welcome pack which was emailed in good time before our arrival. Recommendations for eating out in Dunster was really useful and enabled us to book in advance. A late arrival meant we hadn’t booked a meal for the evening we arrived but that was soon organised for us by Paula making a call to the nearest pub. Dunster is a great place to base yourself if you wish to explore Exmoor or the North Somerset/Devon coast. We really enjoyed our stay at this delightful cottage. Thank you, Paula.

B&B that exceeded expectations

On a chilly December day, I was greeted with a very warm welcome! Paula showed me to my cosy and very comfortable single room and tempted me to take mulled wine and a mince pie in the beautiful lounge with a wood burner – what a start to a four day break. Paula was a lovely host and their home a real luxury to stay in. The breakfasts were delicious and far too tempting (the smoked haddock and poached egg is a must)! This was my first time in the area and I now have a long list of places to explore on a return visit! There is so much diversity from coastal paths and beaches to wild moorland, rivers and wooded valleys. The natural woodlands are amazing. I should stress at this time too that I felt very comfortable with the logistics in place to ensure the safety of their guests during this pandemnic. The Christmas decorations were stunning; the lights outside in the cottage garden charming and inside really Christmassy and very tasteful. Wonderful memories!

Wonderful B&B with fantastic host!

Upon arrival she greeted us with coffee and cake, perfect after a long journey! The room was in excellent condition and very comfortable with everything we needed. Breakfast was cooked to perfection and set us up for the day ahead! We’re definitely planning on staying again next time we’re exploring the area. 🙂

A wonderful B&B we regularly return to

Paula made us very welcome as always and were very accomodating to our Covid requirements. The cake on arrival was delicious as were the breakfasts. We really enjoyed using the lovely guest lounge with woodburner to relax in on Saturday evening. The location is perfect – everything in Dunster is a short walk, just minutes from the castle – and you can walk up into the beautiful countryside from the door too. We’ll be back!

Fabulous B&B

Had the most amazing two days in and around Dunster (despite the weather) helped by a stay in Paula wonderful B&B. I was made to feel welcome from the outset with coffee and delicious chocolate cake. Room was just idyllic with the most comfy bed. Breakfast was excellent as well. Can’t wait to go back to visit. Thank you Paula for being such a great host, despite the challenging circumstances we are all in. Felt totally safe whilst with you. Would urge anyone who is considering a break in Dunster to stay at Millstream – you will not be disappointed!

From the very warm and friendly welcome, delicious tea and cake on arrival, the beautiful accommodation and the excellent breakfast, everything was just perfect. This is a fabulous cottage in a gorgeous location. Dunster is a lovely village, ideally situated for many Somerset and Devon attractions. Millstream Cottage is within close walking distance of excellent restaurants and cafes. Paula is the perfect host and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend and will definitely return.

Another great stay

If you are looking for the perfect getaway in a beautiful cottage in a perfect village, this is it. From the moment you are greeted through the door with the offer of tea and cakes to the fantastic full English breakfast Paula is there to make sure your stay with them is comfortable, peaceful and just very relaxing. During these current strange times we never once felt that there could have been anymore done to make us feel safe and relaxed. The whole cottage is immaculate and all the little details that you would want have already been taken care of like the fresh milk in the guest fridge everyday, small bottles of water, lovely fresh big towels and not forgetting the amazing breakfast with a good variety to choose from. I would highly recommend staying here as the perfect retreat from the sometimes madness of modern life. Thank you guys and hopefully we will see you again.

A beautiful place to rest, wonderful host 10/10

I managed to book a single, en-suite room at this lovely cottage at the very last minute. My lovely room overlooked the garden and national park, and I received a very warm, authentic welcome from Paula. At the end of a day of exploring, I wanted tranquility and I got it. I visited in August, and have already booked for the end of September, I think that says it all! 10/10 on every level.

Best B&B in Dunster

We are frequent visitors to Dunster and have stayed at (we think) pretty much all the B&Bs there and we rate this one as the best yet. Lovely room, immaculately clean, wonderful full English breakfast (including soya milk). There is also a lovely communal lounge where you can kick back and relax at the end of a long day. Friendly and helpful owners – we will return.

Returning guests

We returned back to this beautiful B&B for the first time in two years. It’s without doubt one of the best B&Bs we have stayed in and were welcomed by the new owners with tea and cake. We were pleased to see that it has maintained its high standards and that it’s most certainly as enjoyable a stay as it’s always been. We most certainly will be returning once again. Andy & Kath

Peaceful and serene location full of history and features. The BnB was beautiful and the host so kind and helpful. The sitting room was cosy and relaxing and we were treated to welcome chocolate cake. Our room was so clean and comfy and the shower strong. Breakfast was perfect with the all important cafetière of coffee. We loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you Paula. You are a amazing host and we loved your BnB. We will be back!

A long bike ride’s happy ending

Sitting on a bike for 8 hours to get to Dunster meant that I was tired, hungry and smelly. The welcome given was a masterclass in the art of perfect hosting. Quick tour of the cottage and offered tea and cake straight away. It got better from then on. Warm, strong shower, soft bed, drinks, snacks in the bedroom, tv. All of which helped to regain composure and head out feeling almost back to normal, (tired legs.). The balance is everything in a hotel or b’n’b. Paula have achieved it with what must take a lot of work behind the scenes. Relaxing, comfortable, tastefully decorated, great breakfast.

Beautiful cosy B&B in Dunster

Just returned from a lovely 3-night break at Millstream Cottage B & B in Dunster, where Paula gave us a very warm welcome. Dunster itself is postcard perfect, a fantastic base to explore Exmoor, but 500-year-old Millstream Cottage is the icing on the cake. Pretty cottage gardens greet you at the front, and there are two spacious reception rooms for guests’ use, both very comfortable, beautifully furnished and decorated.

We stayed in the duck-egg blue room, a small double room that we chose for its pretty view over the garden and West Street. Though not large, it was perfectly adequate, with tasteful decor, a comfortable bed, pretty window-seat and excellent shower.

It was the small touches that made the difference, though – a tin with lots of different teas and coffees, a jar full of biscuits, fresh milk from a mini-fridge on the landing for visitors who don’t like those little UHT pots. Quality toiletries in the bathroom, and a decent hairdryer (with nozzle no less! Be still my beating heart!) in the dressing table drawer, together with cotton buds, cotton wool and a shoe shine.

Breakfast was also impressive, with a tasty range of cooked options, plenty of cereals, toast, yoghurt and fresh fruit.

Paula could not have been more hospitable, and we felt very much at home in this lovely B & B. It’s rare for my husband and I to stay at the same place twice, but now we’ve found Millstream Cottage we’re sure to stay there again on our next visit to Exmoor.

Ideal weekend stay

A beautiful, comfortable and perfectly placed little B&B. We received a warm welcome and delicious cream tea on arrival and Paula was the perfect host. We recently spent 3 nights at Millstream Cottage and were certainly looked after well by host, Paula is very warm and friendly. The cottage is in a good location as you can walk to the castle, pubs, cafes etc from there. Dunster is a small, delightful village with lots of character. Millstream cottage is a lovely old home with a cheery, colourful cottage garden. Our room, although not large, was well presented, clean and comfortable. Also well equipped….even had a shoe shine kit! There is a large guest lounge and charming breakfast room where scrumptious breakfasts were served each morning. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt very at home there. Parking was a short distance away. A lovely relaxing stay in Millstream Cottage.
