Just returned from a lovely 3-night break at Millstream Cottage B & B in Dunster, where Paula and Phil gave us a very warm welcome. Dunster itself is postcard perfect, a fantastic base to explore Exmoor, but 500-year-old Millstream Cottage is the icing on the cake. Pretty cottage gardens greet you at the front, and there are two spacious reception rooms for guests’ use, both very comfortable, beautifully furnished and decorated.
We stayed in the duck-egg blue room, a small double room that we chose for its pretty view over the garden and West Street. Though not large, it was perfectly adequate, with tasteful decor, a comfortable bed, pretty window-seat and excellent shower.
It was the small touches that made the difference, though – a tin with lots of different teas and coffees, a jar full of biscuits, fresh milk from a mini-fridge on the landing for visitors who don’t like those little UHT pots. Quality toiletries in the bathroom, and a decent hairdryer (with nozzle no less! Be still my beating heart!) in the dressing table drawer, together with cotton buds, cotton wool and a shoe shine.
Breakfast was also impressive, with a tasty range of cooked options, plenty of cereals, toast, yoghurt and fresh fruit.
Paula and Phil could not have been more hospitable, and we felt very much at home in this lovely B & B. It’s rare for my husband and I to stay at the same place twice, but now we’ve found Millstream Cottage we’re sure to stay there again on our next visit to Exmoo.

Very welcoming and relaxing place to stay
Fantastic location with great cottage garden in picturesque village, short walk to abundance of pubs, tea rooms and shops. Paula and Phil very good company. Lots of nice touches eg cookies in room, fresh milk available, good breakfast options, choice of downstairs rooms to relax in.

Ideal weekend stay
A beautiful, comfortable and perfectly placed little B&B. We received a warm welcome and delicious cream tea on arrival and Phil and Paul were the perfect hosts. The cottage itself is a little gem with an interesting history and a stone’s throw from Dunster Castle and Mill, with several eateries, pubs and interesting little shops all within easy walking distance. Our room was cosy, clean and well appointed with a charming view the front garden and the street. Very highly recommended.

We recently visited the beautiful Millstream Cottage for a short summer break and cannot say enough how impressed we were with the hospitality and location. Breakfast was outstanding and set us up for the day, and the room was comfortable and clean with a large selection of tea, coffee and biscuits. We were made most welcome with a lovely cream tea on arrival, and Paula and Phil had a good knowledge of the local area when we asked about places to visit. We will definitely be recommending to our family and friends.

Amazing! Couldn’t recommend more.
We spent 3 nights at millstream cottage and absolutely loved every minute of it. Phil and Paula are a lovely couple who made us feel very welcome and went the extra mile to make the experience extra special for us. Our only regret from the trip was not staying for longer!! Once again, couldn’t recommend any more. Lovely people, lovely place, lovely views. Will be returning soon!

Wonderful week with terrific hosts
Millstream Cottage is a delightful place to spend a few days. Paula and Phil are a lovely couple who go out of their way to make their guests feel really welcome. The rooms are stylish and comfortable, the provision of a fridge with fresh milk and juice is a really thoughtful touch. The breakfasts are exceptional and the trays of tea and homemade cakes were especially welcome after a day out. I look forward to staying again next year.

We recently spent 3 nights at Millstream Cottage and were certainly looked after well by hosts, Paula and Phil who are warm and friendly people. The cottage is in a good location as you can walk to the castle, pubs, cafes etc from there. Dunster is a small, delightful village with lots of character. Millstream cottage is a lovely old home with a cheery, colourful cottage garden. Our room, although not large, was well presented, clean and comfortable. Also well equipped….even had a shoe shine kit! There is a large guest lounge and charming breakfast room where scrumptious breakfasts were served each morning. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt very at home there. Parking was a short distance away. A lovely relaxing stay in Millstream Cottage.
